Looking back and looking forward

Published in May 2023 by Susann Naomi Israel

May 1st, 2023 marks the 1st anniversary of launching Naomi Israel Consulting in my new role as Consultant & Coach for Change. It is a wonderful opportunity to reflect and to look both, back and forward. I am especially grateful towards my first sponsors, partners, and clients, who entrust/ed me to serve them, while simultaneously establishing my new practice. Thank you sincerely!

What comes to mind when looking back?

Building a new practice is a truly exciting, sometimes scary endeavour. My most memorable experiences may be summarized as…

… having started with concrete initial ideas, that I had crafted into a high-level business plan and business plan canvas, allowed me to articulate my services and to focus on delivering against my set goals, while still leaving sufficient room for creativity and catering for the individual needs of my prospects and clients.

… building an entirely new 360-degree network of sponsors, service providers, partners, prospects, supervisors, and clients from scratch is very inspiring and enriching, and it can also feel like extremely hard work. I learnt to appreciate operating outside my own comfort zone and working long stretches of time alone.

… exchanging with “fellow travellers”, who are also running their own businesses, makes the entrepreneurial journey a lot more enjoyable, learning from each other.

… serving clients from across industries (banking, ESG, distribution) and countries in Europe as independent and receiving direct feedback for my work is an extremely humbling experience. It is a steep learning curve and makes me very happy, each day.

And yes, it is and remains a “journey of a thousand miles”, that I look forward continuing!

What do I foresee on my way forward?

As a young consulting and coaching practice, I aim to grow my client base gradually. While my active business development remains focused on Switzerland, Germany, Singapore, and Japan, I serve clients internationally upon request.

In terms of facilitation, for institutional and private clients, I offer in-person meetings using modern co-working and meeting facilities in all major cities; in addition, I offer virtual interventions via ZOOM and Teams. For institutional clients, I come on-site to the client’s premises. For private clients and groups, I customize multi-day workshops and stays at the country house Casa Hygge or likewise nature-immersed rental facilities in Piedmont, Italy.

As senior consultant, it is a continued pleasure to collaborate with Lara Ferrari and prozessraum AG on a range of operational excellence projects in Switzerland and beyond.

As freshly accredited coach, ‘EMCC Accredited Coach at Practitioner level’, I look forward to continuing my coaching to leaders and change executives, with focus on self-awareness, creativity, diversity, and transformation.

And yes, my next big milestone will be the anticipated graduation from INSEAD’s Executive Master in Change programme in September 2023.

The journey continues!
